Paper quality is not great for detailed pencil work or fine line ink drawing but is fairly good for coarse and wet media and the file rings that can be opened, to add or remove pages, are very useful indeed. Good for quick, high volume sketching, croquis etc..

The sketchbook is of rather thick but soft surface paper. It is very like pure cellulose. This softness has pros and cons. The softness lends tooth , but also will pill up if not carefully treated. I'm a professional artist. I just wanted something big , inexpensive and full of pages. As you can see, you can use watercolor paints on it, but judiciously. The sink in quite well with minimal bleeding. The paper will not stand for wet in wet, it is not sufficiently sized . However it has rather a pleasant surface for a light wash and for pencil. Pencil marks erase well with a putty rubber. Anything hard will spoil the soft surface. I also like the fact the paper is ivory colour not a strong white. I think the paper will be fine with pastel and charcoal. It's excellent value.

A4 Sketch Books, 75 Sheets This sketchbook has a black cover, front and back, and 75 pages inside, doubling up to 150 pages if you use both sides. The 160g pages are quite thick, like thin card, which are textured for ease of sketching. It's not the most expensive paper, but good enough for sketching out drafts, etc. If you use the reverse side, it doesn't bleed through. I tried it with charcoal and the charcoal blended fairly well. They are not brilliant white pages, more off-white. The binders allow the pages to rotate 360 degrees, so you can fold the cover and pages out of the way while sketching. Also the rings open to remove pages if you choose. Unlike a bound book, you have small holes in the pages, but the edge of the page can be cut off. The A4 size is great for sketching, so often sketch pads are A5. Overall, this is a decent-sized sketchbook, and the paper is rough/textured enough for charcoals and pastels.
